Understanding the Four C's of Loose Diamonds

Understanding the four C's of loose diamonds before you go shopping for engagement rings is very crucial to your buying experience. You would never go into a car dealership without being familiar with some of their lingo and this experience is no different.
The first C is the cut. It pertains to the overall shape of the stone and also the many facets cut into the stone. These facets are what give the diamond its sparkle because they reflect light in many different directions. The second C is the clarity. This refers to how many imperfections the stone contains. Loose diamonds with no imperfections are very rare and even more expensive. The third C is the color. Although most people prefer white diamonds, they also com in many other colors such as pink, blue or brown. The white diamonds may have tints of yellow or orange in them that determines how they rank on a color scale. The final C is the carat weight. This determines the sheer size of your diamond. With all three other C's remaining constant, the value of your stone will rise as the carat weight rises. The perfect diamond is waiting for you right around the corner.
